Sisters, Olivia, 25, and Charlotte Williams, 28, from London spotted a gap in the UK market for skimpy thong bikinis. The only way they could get hold of the swimwear they liked was to pay numerous import duties from Australian swimwear websites. Their love of thong bikinis came from the pair spending their time flying to and from Trinidad and Tobago with their mother, where they were always spoilt for choice with the amount of skimpy swimwear on offer.
So there was only one solution, the sisters bravely (yes bravely a its not easy out there being an entrepreneur!) started their own business manufacturing “luxury, high quality bikinis at affordable prices”. Within eight months the dream came to fruition with their brand TOCO with the help raising their own capital and tapping into a government start up loan. It’s a far removed world from their chartered accountants jobs which they still manage to juggle along with their business.
"We have both been working full time jobs as accountants throughout the entire process and work on this in our evenings and weekends."
'We do daily lunch time visits to the post office to ship orders but make sure to keep both "jobs" completely separate. Some people train for marathons in their spare time, we sell bikinis.”
The TOCO brand launched in June is based on their sports bra fused bralette bikini top and 80’s style high leg thong bikini bottom. The bikinis are available in four summer colours Kuchela, Pitch, Sorrel and Whine. Prices range at £35 and are all made from double lined Italian swim fabric.
Future plans for this bikini designer duo include more supportive bikini top options for their bigger bust customers plus four new key styles for SS18. We cannot wait to see!
